Can you hear me now?

Kilo Juliet Five Echo Zombie Hotel, K J 5 E Z H, is my ham radio license. Technically, it should be Echo Zulu Hotel; but, I was always say zombie instead of zulu. It just sounds cooler.

I picked up my Ham Radio license because of Baofeng radios. People all over the internet were talking about how essential these radios are. The radios looked cool so I bought a book "The Guerrilla's Guide To The Baofeng Radio". The book was amazing. It inspired me to get my Ham Radio License.

I used Ham Radio Prep to prepare for my license. Watched the videos, did the quizzes, and practiced the exams for about 2 weeks. Knocked out two exam levels: technician and general at an in-person test site. Amatuer Radio Licences grant a variety of privileges across the RF spectrum. "General" is awesome because it grants you access to almost all bands and modes.

GMRS license is just a $35 fee with the FCC. I strongly recommend starting with GMRS because the one license covers everyone in your household and doesn't require a test. Getting busy friends and family to commit to a ham radio license could be a challenge. Use GMRS as a gateway drug. It is a cheap and easy way to get started.

There is alot of mis-information on radio capabilities. The articles on this site are based on my experiences. The point is to showcase what is practical and what isn't.
